Keystone, Colorado STR Regulations
The Town of Keystone assumed responsibility for short-term rental licensing and enforcement on September 30, 2024. Properties within Keystone town limits are regulated by the Town of Keystone rather than Summit County’s unincorporated STR program.
License + Transfer: STR licenses do not transfer with the sale of a property. Buyers must obtain a new Town of Keystone STR license before advertising or operating the property as a short-term rental.
Annual License Fee: $285 for both new applications and renewals.
License Term + Renewal: Licenses expire September 30 of the calendar year following issuance. Renewals are completed during the Town’s September renewal period.
Keystone Lodging Tax: The Town collects a 2% lodging tax on stays of fewer than 30 consecutive days. The tax took effect January 1, 2025.
