October in Summit County: Golden Leaves, First Snow, & Mountain Adventures
October in Summit County never fails to amaze. The air turns crisp, the mountains glow in shades of gold and amber, and locals savor every last warm afternoon before winter fully settles in. Here’s what we’ve been up to this month as the seasons shift in the high country.
A Golden Goodbye to Fall
Early October brought a breathtaking display of color across Summit County. The aspens were at their peak, shimmering gold under bright blue skies. Every turn offered postcard-worthy views. It’s one of our favorite times to be out showing mountain homes and there’s truly nothing like Summit County in the fall.
First Snow of the Season
Not long after the last of the leaves fell, the mountains turned white again. Our first snow dusted the peaks in early October, marking the official start of winter anticipation. You can feel the excitement in the air as locals tune skis, check lift calendars, and start counting down to opening day.
Wildlife Sightings
As the seasons change, wildlife becomes especially active. We’ve spotted countless moose wandering through Blue River, fox friends stopping by our yard, and ravens doing their thing. It’s a reminder that we share this beautiful place with some incredible neighbors.
Staying Active Outdoors
While mornings have turned frosty, we’ve still been getting out on our bikes and trails whenever the sun’s out. October is that perfect mix of crisp air and quiet trails before ski season begins.
Looking Ahead
As we head deeper into fall, we’re gearing up for winter listings, snow-covered photography sessions, and helping clients prepare for the holiday market rush. Whether you’re thinking about selling, buying, or simply planning your next mountain getaway, we’d love to connect.
