Lately at The BuyBreck Team: Powder Days, Travel, and Training Miles

The holidays have officially arrived in the mountains and Breckenridge is in full winter mode. We’ve got our Christmas tree up, lights on, and that cozy high-country feeling that makes this time of year so special.

Last week, Breckenridge hosted the annual Race of the Santas, which is always a fun reminder that this town doesn’t take itself too seriously. Seeing hundreds of Santas running through Main Street never gets old.

Looking ahead, Ullr Fest is just around the corner, and we’re feeling ready for some snow. Between the events, the energy in town, and the excitement on the mountain, winter has fully settled in and we’re here for it.

Mexico City Adventures

Brady and I also escaped south for a trip to Mexico City, and we fell completely in love with it. We spent our days walking all over Roma Norte, Condesa, and Polanco, exploring neighborhoods on foot and eating our way through some truly incredible food.

We checked off a few bucket list experiences, including a lively lucha libre match, a visit to the Teotihuacan pyramids, and seeing original works by Frida Kahlo. The city is vibrant, historic, and endlessly inspiring. It was a fabulous trip and one we’re already talking about repeating.

First Ski Turns of the Season

We kicked off ski season at Breckenridge with our first day on the mountain and it did not disappoint. It was a true powder day, complete with 98 mph winds on Peak 8 and a couple of whiteout moments that kept things exciting. Conditions like that are a good reminder of why we love skiing here. Challenging, unpredictable, and an absolute blast.

Local Wildlife Sightings

Wildlife sightings are part of daily life in the mountains, but this past month delivered a few especially memorable moments. We spotted four foxes hanging out together on the back deck of a home in Blue River, casually coming and going like they owned the place.

On a recent trip to Westcliffe, we also came across a group of wild turkeys roaming through town. Seeing them wandering around with the Sangre de Cristo Mountains as a backdrop was such a classic Colorado moment and a great reminder of how different life can feel once you step outside the Front Range.

Training for the Denver Marathon

On top of everything else, we’re both deep into training for the Denver Marathon in May. Lots of miles, lots of early mornings, and plenty of motivation from the mountain air. It’s been a great way to stay grounded and focused as winter settles in.

Between powder days, travel adventures, and enjoying life in Summit County, the past month has been a great reminder of why we love what we do and where we live. As always, we’re grateful to share this lifestyle with our clients and community.

If you’re dreaming about mountain living, planning a move, or just want to talk real estate and life in the high country, we’re always happy to connect.
