Summer in Summit County is officially around the corner. The Dillon Marina is preparing to open for the 2026 season on Saturday, May 23, just in time for Memorial Day weekend, and locals and visitors alike are ready to get back out on the water.
From boating and paddle boarding to lakeside drinks and mountain views, Dillon Reservoir is one of the best places to spend summer days in the Colorado mountains. This season, visitors can once again enjoy boat rentals, kayak and paddleboard rentals through Stand Up Paddle Colorado, the marina retail shop, launch ramp access, and all of the classic Dillon Marina summer energy.
That said, 2026 will come with a few operational changes due to ongoing drought conditions and fluctuating reservoir levels. Here’s what boaters and visitors should know before heading to the marina this summer.
What to Expect at Dillon Marina This Summer
Dock Access May Look Different
As reservoir levels fluctuate throughout the season, some gangways may rest directly on the shoreline rather than floating above the water. Marina staff say visitors should expect longer walks to docks and changing shoreline conditions during the summer.
If you are heading out on the water, plan to give yourself extra time and wear appropriate footwear. Visitors should also use caution around the seawall and marina shoreline areas.
Increased Boat Traffic and Longer Wait Times
One major update for 2026 is that Dillon Marina will serve as the reservoir’s only launch ramp and aquatic nuisance species (ANS) inspection site this summer.
That means boaters should anticipate:
Increased launch ramp traffic
Longer wait times on weekends and holidays
Limited parking during busy periods
Heavy marina activity during regattas and sailing events
If possible, marina staff recommend arriving early and carpooling during peak summer weekends.
Ongoing Marina and Dock Improvements
Slip holders and visitors will likely notice ongoing dock work and anchor installations throughout the season as crews continue adapting marina infrastructure to changing water levels.
The amphitheater courtesy dock will also be relocated to the launch ramp this summer to help improve launch efficiency.
Additionally, courtesy docking at Frisco Bay Marina will not be available for visitors arriving from Dillon Marina this season.
Pump-Out Services May Be Unavailable
Due to lower water levels and operational limitations, the marina’s pump-out barge may not operate during the 2026 season. Boaters should plan ahead accordingly.
Sailing Events and Summer Regattas Return
Dillon Marina will once again host several sailing events and regattas this summer, including the popular Dillon Open Regatta in August.
Because the blue crane will not be operational this season, larger sailboats such as Etchells will use loaders at the launch ramp for launching and retrieval. Sailors are encouraged to coordinate directly with marina staff ahead of events.
New Lakeside Tiki Bar Coming to Dillon Marina
One of the most exciting additions for summer 2026 is the arrival of the new STEEP Brewing Lakeside Tiki Bar.
Operated by Justin and Elissa Slezak, owners of STEEP Brewing and Coffee Company, the reimagined lakeside space will bring a fun, community-focused atmosphere to the marina this summer. Visitors may already recognize the STEEP name from their Keystone brewery locations and Breckenridge Coffee Roasters.

The tiki bar is expected to soft open Memorial Day Weekend, with a grand opening planned for June 2026.
