Kick off the holiday season in true Breckenridge style on Saturday, December 5, with an afternoon and evening full of festive events along historic Main Street. The celebration begins with the Holiday Dog Parade at 3:30 p.m., followed by the kids’ Moose March at 4:00 p.m. and the Race of the Santas at 4:20 p.m., when hundreds of costumed Santas make their way through downtown. At 5:00 p.m., Santa will officially light the town tree in Blue River Plaza, illuminating Breckenridge with approximately 250,000 holiday lights, followed by a free Meet Santa event from 5:30–7:00 p.m. Visitors can also stop by the Holiday Giving Event in Blue River Plaza from 3:00–6:00 p.m. to support Summit Rotary’s Adopt an Angel program, or browse locally made gifts at the Artists’ Holiday Market at Old Masonic Hall.
